enterprise version - need to be logged in?

does one have to be logged into a server/workstation in order for enterprise to monitor and process photos?

Dear user,

Since BatchPhoto Monitor is not a service, it is necessary for the user that installed BatchPhoto Enterprise to log in before the Monitor can begin monitoring his folders.

ah, not so good if a server/computer is rebooted. shouldn't the enterprise version run as a service so it does not depend on a user to be logged in? any suggestions on what to do to keep the monitoring service running all the time?

excellent. i am really looking forward to a monitoring as a service. can you guys comment on the scalability of the network monitoring feature? any thresholds or limitations that enterprise users should be aware of? is there a min/max or recommended # of folders that can be monitored across an enterprise network? how about recommended hardware specs?

Dear user,

Theoretically, the number of folders that can be monitored on a network using BatchPhoto Monitor is unlimited. But if you are interested in execution speed, the optimal number of such folders is represented by the number of cores on your machine's processor (or the number of actual execution threads for processors with Hyper Threading). On the other hand, if you are more interested in efficiency, just multiply the previously mentioned optimal number by two and you get the number of folders that should be monitored in order to obtain the best productivity.

As for hardware specifications it is obvious that a machine with a multi-core processor would be recommended for optimal execution of BatchPhoto Enterprise.

Dear user,

Windows' Task Scheduler will enable you to run BatchPhoto Monitor as a service. This is what you have to do:

1. Create a new Task
2. In the General tab give the task's name and be sure to select the Run whether user is logged on or not option
3. In the Triggers tab add a At startup trigger
4. In the Actions tab add a Start a program action that starts the monitor (BPMonitor.exe can be found in BatchPhoto's installation folder)
5. Press OK to save your settings

The above setup is just a simple example of how you can turn BatchPhoto Monitor into a service and should be considered a starting point. More complex tasks can be created using Windows' Task Scheduler.
