Scan folder frequency
Under watch folder settings, will scanning the watch folder cause the drive to physically spin up to scan the folder, or will this info be cached by the OS or drive? I ask this, as I'm concerned a scan every few seconds would have a drive permanently spinning and never let it spin down.
Hello,
If the folder is not changed (no new or modified files) the OS & drive may cache this request but this is hard to tell without testing or inner knowledge into this area of the OS, and it may even differ from Windows to OS X.
If this is a problem for you the safest path will be (of course) to increase the scan time to a much larger value, it can be set to scan as infrequently as once per day for example.
