Hello,

I have tested this and encountered the same error that you did.

This happens only under Vista Paint, the image was successfully loaded under Windows 7 Paint or Vista/7 Photo Gallery. The version of Paint under Vista is outdated and does not recognize the newer JPG files.

So I suggest you to download and install Paint.NET as a replacement to Vista Paint, it's open source and much more powerful that the original Paint program:
http://www.getpaint.net/

jpg format not readable

I have re-sized photos, but Windows Vista Paint cannot read the photos, says it can't read the format..... says it is not a valid bitmap file. I have taken photos in jpg format, and have no problem reading the original photos in Paint, but once reduced in resolution or date stamped, cannot view in Paint.
