How to add comments date and time to photos

 

 

In this tutorial we will show you how to setup BatchPhoto manually (without using profiles or projects) for adding comments and time to a set of photos. The tutorial is structured into three sections: Add Photos, Add Filters and Setup & Process.

 

 

Step 1 - Add Photos

 

 

 

  1. Press Add Photo(s) and navigate to the desired folder


  2. Hold the Ctrl key and press the left mouse button on top of each photo you want processed. Then push Ok button. Note that the same photo can not be added twice


  3. You can sort the photos by Name, Type or Path, just click on the associated header. You can also refine your list by removing individual photos or even all. To remove photos from the list select one or more and press Remove button


  4. You are now ready to move to the second step of the wizard. Press Next button or select Add Filters from the left panel

 

 

 

Step 2 - Add Filters

 

 

 

  1. Press Add Filter button, a dialog box with all available filters will be displayed



  2. Select from the left panel the Annotate section. Select from the list the Comment filter and press Add. A dialog box with the filter settings will be displayed



  3. Adjust the Comment filter's settings as you like, then press the OK button

    1. Type your comments into the Text edit-box


    2. To change the comment's position in the resulting photo select from the Placement combo-box the desired placement (Bottom, Middle, Top or User Defined)


    3. To change the text's font and size, press Font button. Select from the left side the desired font and from the right the desired size


    4. To change the text's color, press Color button and select the desired color from the Color dialog


    5. To change the text's transparency select the desired level from the Transparency combo-box


    6. The default settings can be restored by pressing the Reset button


  4. Repeat the steps 1 and 2 to add the Date filter



  5. Adjust the Date filter settings as you like, then press the OK button

    1. You can add to the resulting photo either the original photo's date or the current system's date also you can select to add both the date and time or only the date. Make your choice from the Date/Time combo-box


    2. To chose the time's position in the resulting photo select your option from the Placement combo-box (Bottom-Right, Bottom-Middle, Bottom-Left, Top-Right, Top-Middle or Top-Left)


    3. Select the date format (e.g. MMM-DD-YYYY or YYYY-MMM-DD) from Select Format combo-box


    4. Select the time format (e.g. AM/PM or 24h) from the Time Format combo-box


    5. To change the text's size and font, press Font button. Select from the left side the desired font and from the right the desired size


    6. To change the text's color, press Color button and select the desired color from the Color dialog


    7. To change the text's transparency select the desired level from the Transparency combo-box


    8. The default settings can be restored by pressing the Reset button


  6. You can now jump to the third step of the wizard or you can continue with the 7th step to modify the output photo's name


  7. Modify the output photo's name from the cryptic names given by digital cameras (e.g. "DSC1234.jpg") to meaningful names like "Nature-01.jpg"


    1. Delete the keyword "[Filename]" from the Middle edit-box (using the Del or BackSpace keys). Type in the Middle edit-box whatever you'd like your photo names to begin with


    2. Press + button on the right side of the Right edit-box and select the Counter keyword from the list. A dialog-box with the Counter settings will be displayed


    3. You can accept the default settings for the Counter keyword and press OK


  8. You are now ready to move to the third step of the wizard. Press Next button or select Step 3 - Setup from the left panel

 

 

Step 3 - Setup

 

 

 

  1. To select the destination folder for the processed photos, uncheck the Use source photo's folder for output check-box and press Select button. Navigate to the desired output folder then press Ok.


  2. Format. The default output format for images is JPG, this is the default format for digital cameras also and we recommend to use it for your processed photos


  3. Settings. You can select to have the output folder opened in a new Windows Explorer window when the process is finished. The processed photo's attributes (like file date) are left the same (by default) as the originals. You can select to delete the original photos after writing the processed ones if you don't need them any longer


  4. Congratulations! You have successfully completed the wizard, all you need to do now is press Process button (bottom-right corner) or press Process from the left panel. The Processing Photos dialog-box is displayed and all you have left to do now is to wait while the photos are being processed
