Thumbnail filter's settings explained :

 

Adjust the Width and Height of the resulting thumbnail either by using the small up and down arrows (attached to the edit-box) or by typing the desired values in those fields The resulting thumbnails will be automatically scaled to the desired width and height values by taking into consideration the desired Resize method that can be : resize to fit or stretch to fit The default settings can be restored by pressing the Reset button

 

In the second step you can also modify the resulting thumbnail's names by using the Modify Filenames filter. Also the original photos and the resulting thumbnails can be seen in preview.
